When Brandon from Abstrax Hops approached us for custom tap handles for a cannabis trade show, the goal was to create a design that reflected their innovative approach to blending cannabis with hops while providing functionality for their showcase. Abstrax Hops was introducing a groundbreaking line of cannabis-infused hop beverages, and their custom tap markers needed to make a lasting impression.
The Knockout Designs team crafted a sleek, shaped wooden tap handle that embodies a perfect balance of natural authenticity and modern branding. The tap handle’s natural wood base conveys a sense of craftsmanship and quality, while its clean, geometric shape gives it a contemporary edge. At the top of the handle, the Abstrax logo stands out boldly, UV LED-printed in vibrant yellow and black. The contrast between the dark background and bright yellow elements ensures high visibility, making the branding instantly recognizable even from a distance. Additionally, the hexagonal shape of the logo adds a dynamic and distinctive element to the design, drawing immediate attention. UV LED printing allowed us to create a high-quality finish with exceptional durability, making these custom tap handles resistant to wear while enabling small-batch production for private label brews.
To ensure functionality at the trade show, we integrated a blackboard inset into the body of the tap handle. This feature allows for easy customization, enabling the team to label each tap with the specific cannabis-infused beverage being served. The deep black of the inset contrasts sharply with the light wood, enhancing readability and practicality. Whether showcasing an IPA-style cannabis brew or a more experimental flavor, the blackboard inset provides versatility and convenience.
